About NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand is located in the Southwest Pacific Ocean and consists of two main Islands as well as a number of smaller ones.

The principal Islands are the North and South Islands which are separated by the Cook Strait.

New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere, so January and February are the warmest months, Autumn is from March to May, Winter is from June to August, and Spring runs from September to November.

Capital of New Zealand is Wellington but the most popular and happening city is Auckland. 

The total population of New Zealand is approximately 4.5 million while the population of Auckland is 1.4 million. Hence one third of New Zealand’s total population resides in Auckland.

The official languages of New Zealand are English and Maori

Eligibility criteria:

Academics:

  • For Undergraduate Diploma & Bachelor’s Degree: 12th with 50% to 70% range.

  • For Graduate Diplomas, PG Diplomas, Masters: Bachelors with 55% and above.

English Language:

  • Undergraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree & Graduate Diploma: IELTS 6.0 with no bands less than 5.5. Post Graduate Diplomas & Masters: IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.

Intakes and Deadlines:

Intakes: There are generally two Intakes in New Zealand: February and July.

However, ITPs and Private Institutes may have multiple Intakes for different courses. Practically there is an intake every month in some or the other institution resulting in recruitment throughout the year.

Deadlines:  There is no deadline as such in New Zealand but it is recommended to make applications at least 4 months prior to the start date to avoid last moment hassles.

Study and living expenses:

Expenses on tuition fee depends on the type of qualification and university or college. There are many high-ranking universities and colleges in New Zealand with their own fee structures. To cover tuition fees, you will need between NZ$ 22,000 and NZ$ 40,000 a year (Approx.)

Considering various expenses and living costs in New Zealand comes between NZ$ 13,000 and NZ$ 16,000 per academic year (Approx.)

Earn while you learn:

Eligible students can work up to 20 hours in any given week during the academic year and 40 hours during holidays. 

A partner of an eligible student may apply for a work permit for full time working valid for the duration of the study course, only if the student is an applicant for a full-time course of Level 7. However, partners of all students on study course of Level 8 and above can work full time without any condition.

Post study work visa

The student after completion of studies in NZ and graduating (Bachelor’s degree level 7 and above qualifications) will get 3-year Open Post-study Work Visa which enables him/her to start working in any job (not necessarily relevant to qualification as well).

The student after completion of studies in NZ and holding non degree level 7 and below qualification will get 1-year Open Post-study Work Visa, if studies are undertaken in Auckland and will get 2-year Open Post-study Work Visa, if studies are undertaken outside Auckland
